Showing up for folks in my community and building community with them is deeply important to me. These dishes and flavors brought me back to backyard cookouts and fish fries all while in the middle of Bed-Stuy. It makes me feel the most connected to my culture (and it’s always great to support small Black businesses). It reminds us that at the end of every struggle there comes a time for a change if we persist and do not give up.
